The 450,505 SX, XC-F: 1.35 liters,always change the filter, remove and clean the screens. The 250 SX, XC-F, XC-FW: 1.1 liters, always change the filter, remove and clean. KTM now says to check oil level when warm, I still check to see if the oil crests the bottom of the window before start-up.

The newer XC4 motor has more intensive maintenance (not that it is hard). Regardless of motor, I usually change oil every 5-10 hours on my 400/450 bikes (pretty conservative though) and change the filters/clean screens every second or third oil change. Agree with Albie that any good oil will be fine as the RFS motors are not picky.

1 post · Joined 2012. #1 · Jul 2, 2012. I just got this bike. I figured out how to drain the both sections of the oil, but do not know how to put the oil back in for the gear oil. Can someone suggest where? Also, I cannot find a service manual for this bike. if someone has it I would love a copy.

I have a KTM 450 EXC 2004 model. all has been good except a hopefully minor issue. i noticed drips of oil on the concrete in the shed then had a look and also noticed a little bit of oil around the drain bolt washer and a little spread of it on the engine case just slightly below

All you have to do is search KTM530 and the RC4 oil migration problem will pop up right along with everything else. You obviously know the causes so you did some research. The question is do you actually have an 09 motor, makes a bike difference in the possible causes of your problem.
